CANA Shatters Attendance Record in Charlottesville

CHICAGO – The Cremation Association of North America recently broke their previous attendance record in the Commonwealth of Virginia by certifying 108 attendees at their acclaimed Crematory Operators’ Certification Program in Charlottesville, Va., on March 9, 2010, according to a news release. Virginia is the third state that has mandated all crematory operators’ obtain certification to operate a cremator. New York and Mississippi are the others. Kansas will require certification in July of 2011.

Program chairman Mike Nicodemus was overwhelmed at the response of those who attended the program. “I pretty much thought we had saturated the Commonwealth with our two previous programs last September, but was I ever proven wrong. This just proves how important this training is becoming. I know the attendees walked away with new information they can apply to their operation immediately.”

Attendee Doug Farr from Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory in Richmond added. “Being fairly new to the funeral/cremation industry, I had no idea what to expect from this course. I found the information provided by CANA to be appropriate, clear, and greatly beneficial. I would recommend this course to all crematory operators” and funeral directors.”

Nicodemus added “The success of this program would not have been possible without our friends at VFDA, NFDA, Kates-Boylston, and Regulatory Support Services who helped promote this program to the hilt. CANA thanks them along with all the attendees.”
