ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A funeral home is being sued by a New Mexico family who said they found a brain in a bag of their loved one’s personal effects, according to a report by The Associated Press.
The family of a woman who died in a car accident discovered the finding after receiving the bag from the DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory of the Espanola Valley. Richard Valle, an attorney for the plaintiffs, is quoted in the report as stating of the matter, “This is just a sad tragedy… This almost feels like something you’d read about in a Stephen King book.”
An additional funeral home based in Utah, which transported the body, Serenicare Funeral Home in Draper, has also been named as a defendant in the case.
